SPECIAL INTEREST
His special interest is in Orthopaedic Oncology. He has introduced the concept of Limb Salvage Surgery by Custom Mega ProsthesisinBone Tumours. He has established Orthopaedic Oncology as a sub-speciality in Orthopaedic Surgery in India, by his personal series of over 1344 surgeries of Custom MegaProsthesis in 20 years. This is the largest number of cases by a single surgeon in the whole world.
INVENTIONS
He has invented several types of Custom Mega Prostheses amongst which 6 have been Patented and15 Prosthetic Designshave been Registered with the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks, Government of India
ACADEMIC HONOURS
He has also been awarded the Ph.D (2000) and D.Sc. (2004) by the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University for his work on Custom Mega Prosthesis. He has been the recipient of 14 International & National Academic fellowships

He was the first Indian to be elected as President of Asia Pacific Musculoskeletal Tumour Society in the (2000- 2002).

The highest and prestigious civilian PADMA SHRI AWARD by the President ofIndia for Meritorious Services rendered to Bone Tumour patients (2007)
National Award for the Welfare of Disabled by the Government of India in recognition of cost effective technological innovation of Custom Mega Prosthesis in Bone Tumours (2005).
Dr. B. C. Roy National Award by the Medical Council of India in recognition of his contribution to society by Custom Mega Prosthesis in Bone Tumours (2004).
